Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Season-Opening Trophy in Kuwait.

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
